Smtp-fehler

Abend! habe schon seit geraumer Zeit das Problem, dass bei meiner Testinstallation auf heimischem Rechner jeglicher email-Kontakt fehlschl?gt. habe auch schon alternative email-Adressen getestet. Bekomme trotzdem immer Fehlermeldungen wie:

SMTP -> FROM SERVER: SMTP -> NOTICE: EOF caught while checking if connected
Warning: fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\xtcommerce\includes\classes\class.smtp.php on line 146

das wird lokal auch nicht einfach so funktionieren.
Du mu?t dann auch einen Mailserver installieren z.B. MercuryMail.
Der ist bei xampp mit bei.
