Problem With Categories And Images

Hi.

I have problems with the software:

-even though I added categories there is only one category displayed in the shop without its name, so it's only "-> (1)" and the link is dead. Any ideas?

-can't upload image, this error comes up:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatefromgif() in /var/www/html/new/xtcommerce/admin/includes/classes/image_manipulator.php on line 51

Am I missing a PHP-module?

-this is a great peace of software I'm sure, but there really should be a tutorial in english on the template system, any plans?

we are in beta phase, no tutorials yet.

but if you know html, you can deal easily with the tpl system ( smarty.php.net )

Thanks for the speedy reply. Everything else works but have figure out how to install GDlib support.

One more problem:

The charset is wrong for me or something becouse I get a ? instead of a ' and so on. Any ideas?

you can setup the charset for each language in admin.
